The Element Project , according to its own spelling and THE ELEMENT PROJECT is a session -Formation and progressive rock - band from Hamburg . The group combines rock , avant-garde with jazz and world music in a spectrum from psychedelic sound collages to New German Hardness to classical quotes.
history
The composers and founders of The Element Project, Bernt Köhler-Adams ( keyboard ), and Frank Otto ( drums ), already worked together musically in the 1980s in the band Goya, published by Teldec . At that time, names like John Punter ( Roxy Music , Brian Ferry ), Ric Lee ( Ten Years After ), Werner Last and Joachim Witt were responsible for the production . In the 1990s, the composer duo began to produce themselves and, in collaboration with Jens Fischer , contributed the soundtrack for the 1998 film Beautopia . In 2000, the foundation stone for The Element Project was laid.
Regardless of the requirement for transparency , a composition was created as an “emotional diary”. The spontaneous immediacy, and the inherent authenticity , was placed in the foreground. The other musicians were then invited to this 72-minute work, which was written in three months and without any prior knowledge of the piece of music, to manifest themselves just as spontaneously, directly and completely freely.
In a track-by-track process, the instruments were played one after the other without interruption in a 72-minute first take recording session.
After an initial sound processing, the so-called ruff mix , filmmakers were asked to create images for this music as impulsively as possible.
After completing the shooting for which then TRIP - Remix your Experience titled complete works, music recordings by Bernt Köhler-Adams and Frank Otto with the sound engineer Michael Tibes (were Nena , Paulsrekorder ) in the studio of Carsten Bohn in 5.1 surround sound Dolby Digital mixed . Great emphasis was placed on stereo compatibility in order to ensure equivalence and to meet the requirements of the original for both forms of reproduction.
Live performances
In December 2005, The Element Project made its first public appearance in Los Angeles . In the following spring appearances in Cannes and Sophia Antipolis followed .
For the CD release, the formation toured 15 German cities in autumn 2006. In addition to venues such as the Stubnitz ship , this tour of Germany led to 16 cinemas with the appropriate stages, clubs with large screens and the Reeperbahn Festival .
