The music for the film The Lion King by Jon Favreau was composed by Hans Zimmer and Elton John . The album was released on July 11, 2019 by Walt Disney Records .

Emergence

As with the original film from 1994 wrote Hans Zimmer for the remake The Lion King by Jon Favreau , the film music. Elton John also composed two new songs for the soundtrack, but it also includes some of John's songs for the 1994 film. Five of the songs were produced by Pharrell Williams .

On the night of the premiere of the film on July 9, 2019 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, the song Spirit contained on the album was pre- released.

The album, which comprises a total of 19 tracks, was released on July 11, 2019 by Walt Disney Records as a download and on July 19, 2019 in physical form.

Chart successes

The week after its release, Spirit debuted at number one on the Kid Digital Song Sales Charts. On July 19, 2019, the song entered the UK Top 100 at number 80 and the Billboard Hot 100 at number 98 on July 26, 2019 .

On July 19, 2019, the album debuted at number 16 in the US Billboard soundtrack album charts (next week number 2) and at number 10 in the soundtrack album charts in the United Kingdom (next week number 1). On July 26, 2019, he entered the Billboard 200 at number 31 (13th place the following week) and number 76 in the Top 100 in the United Kingdom.

Awards

At the upcoming 2020 Academy Awards , the songs Never Too Late and Spirit were shortlisted in the Best Song category . Further nominations follow.
