The third season of the US television series The Man in the High Castle consists of ten episodes and has so far only been released via subscription video-on-demand . On Amazon's VoD service Prime Video , the season has been available since October 5, 2018, both in the original version and in the German-language dubbed version.

The action begins in the fall of 1962. Joe Blake is tortured in a prison in Berlin until he confesses that he tried to murder the Führer under Martin Heusmann's influence, and he shoots Heusmann; then Heinrich Himmler rehabilitated him. Meanwhile, the Japanese are exploding a nuclear weapon in Monument Valley in the Japanese Pacific states for testing purposes ; Trade Minister Tagomi warns his colleagues of a ruinous arms race with the Nazis. Juliana Crain lives in Colorado in the neutral zone with her half-sister Trudy, who came from the other world, at Hawthorne Abendsen's. After discovering herself as a 7-year-old girl in one of Hawthorne's films, he reacts puzzled and says that it is too dangerous for him. Juliana and Trudy prevent three strangers from murdering the Abendsen couple, after which they quickly part ways. On the evening's departure, Hawthorne tells Juliana that he has given the unburned films to Tagomi, that they can be seen on almost everyone, and that she should get him to show them to her. Before Juliana leaves for San Francisco with Trudy , she receives an address in Santa Fe from the black marketeer Wyatt Price at her request . In New York City , Smith returns to his family as the newly appointed Oberstgruppenführer and attends a memorial service in honor of his son with her and the North American Reich Marshal George Lincoln Rockwell . He also sends Joe Blake to espionage in San Francisco, where Blake is supposed to first set up his cover as a deputy trade attaché . He murders Smith's adjutant Raeder after he has given him his new ID. Meanwhile, Kempeitai boss Kido instructs a newly hired sergeant to track down the rebel leader Hagan.

Juliana meets Tagomi with Trudy in San Francisco and realizes that, like Trudy, he is a traveler between worlds. The Japanese Pacific states are suffering from a fuel embargo secretly caused by the Germans. To stabilize the Japanese Empire, Admiral Inokuchi instructs Kido to take the reins on to loosen up the local population, avoid punishment and convince the local people more about the Japanese culture. After Himmler learns that the three Nazi thugs in Colorado were murdered by the target people, he puts pressure on Rockwell to find the murderers. Juliana and Trudy accidentally get caught up in the clutches of Kido, who the two of them at Tagomi's objection to. Inokuchi has to hand over to Tagomi's care. Kido finds it hard to believe that Trudy is not the same person he once executed himself. Meanwhile, Kido has intensified the search for Hagan, who runs the Kempeitai into a trap with a bomb. Helen Smith mourns the loss of her son and goes into psychotherapy. Rockwell believes that Himmler would like to replace him as Reich Marshal with John Smith. Hoover informs Rockwell that John Smith apparently covered up his son's hereditary disease by killing the doctor. Also because of a newspaper article about the hereditary disease, the Smith couple is feared that the hereditary disease will be discovered, which may affect the entire family. Helen suspects the doctor's widow of intrigue against her family and beats them to death in an argument. Blake begins his service in San Francisco under the code name Joe Chinadella as assistant commercial attaché and receives his first secret assignment. Smith searches for Raeder.

As a secret agent in Himmler's service, Joe Blake kills a man involved in the Heusmann conspiracy in San Francisco. Kido investigates the murder. Meanwhile, Juliana is watching the old films with Tagomi. On one of them she is shot dead by Joe Blake in a mine tunnel. Despite the danger of being discovered by Kido, she accompanies Tagomi to an evening reception of high-ranking Nazis by the Japanese leadership, where she meets Joe again. A little later, she decides to examine the mine in the film herself to find out more. Meanwhile, John Smith hushed up Helen's murder of the doctor's wife and blamed a professional criminal for it. John and Helen Smith reluctantly attend a Nazi celebratory event showing Nicole's latest film. This glorifies the dead Thomas Smith as a Nazi role model and also serves to build up John Smith as the future Reichsmarschall. Shortly after the screening, Hoover reports to Himmler that he is convinced that John Smith murdered Thomas' doctor in order to keep the hereditary disease a secret. John Smith visits the Ahnenerbe Institute, where Nazi researchers work. It is John's job, instructed by Himmler, to look for fakes and real films from among the Führer’s old films. A little later, John discovers his son in one of the films. Dr. Mengele shows Smith at the institute a traveler named Fatima Hassan from the other world as evidence of the existence of the multiverse. Sampson meets Childan in a bar, but is overheard by a Jew hunter and shortly afterwards forced with a gun to drive to a Jewish hiding place. When attempting to cross the border, Hagan is arrested by the Japanese and later tortured by the Kempeitai. Kido reveals the name of Frank Frink.

Sampson brings the Jewish hunter to the Sabra settlement, where Jews are also hiding. When the Judenjäger unmasked a clergyman as a Jew, he is shot by Lila Jacobs, an acquaintance of the half-disfigured Frank Frink, who designs and produces posters there in support of the resistance. Joe Blake shoots the man Howard Wexler, who is a defector from the German Empire, and seizes a suitcase with information about a secondary world. Therefore, in a phone call, Himmler praised him for having nipped in the bud the plans of the Japanese to copy the Nazi's own outlying world project. Himmler also urges him to take action against Tagomi soon because he is jointly responsible for Wexler's desertion. The Sabra residents vote for Frank to stay with them despite the danger his discovery poses to them. Before Helen Smith started her therapy with Dr. Ryan continues, John Smith threatens him with professional and personal disadvantages if he does not pay attention to the utmost discretion regarding information that could incriminate John. Meanwhile, Hoover has found out that John Smith wanted his son Thomas to be kidnapped to South America, and is about to prove the murder of Thomas' doctor's wife to Helen Smith. When Hoover is certain that John Smith is covering up the murders and wanting to keep his son's hereditary disease a secret, he tries to blackmail him with these findings so that John either retires early or Hoover reveals the compromising information. In the face of this, Hoover is blackmailed by John and threatened with the disclosure of information that would expose Hoover. John Smith succeeds in having Hoover, in the presence of Himmler, declaring the evidence for the incriminating allegations Rockwell's allegations about the hereditary disease and the murders as non-existent, thus averting his accusation of treason . Himmler dismisses Rockwell because of the unproven allegations and replaces him as Reichsmarschall with John, who then lets Rockwell stabbed in his Cuban exile. Thelma is unexpectedly picked up by John Smith when leaving Nicole's hotel. Nicole plans to replace the Statue of Liberty with a statue that also shows Thomas Smith as the new "Colossus". Juliana learns from Joe that he was forced to murder his father and discovers secret information about Lackawanna and the Second World Project in Joe's suitcase before she murders him.

Kido leads the investigation into the murder of Joe in a brothel. Through the testimony of a prostitute, he quickly suspects Juliana, which he also asked Tagomi about. The latter receives anonymously from Juliana the documents from Joe's suitcase about the Second World Project, which once belonged to Wexler, and about Tagomi himself. Tagomi forwards the dossier about himself to Kido, who therefore sees the danger of an attack on Tagomi's life. After Kido has informed John Smith of the murder, John sends Hoover to San Francisco with Himmler's knowledge to solve the murder, if possible before the Japanese succeed. Without John's knowledge, Himmler sends a new, young agent there to continue Joe's work. Meanwhile, Juliana, with Wyatt's help, travels to Denver in the neutral zone and from there - together with Lem Washington - to Cheyenne , where she hopes to speak to Hawthorne Abendsen, the man in the high castle. Dr. Mengele wakes the traveler Fatima Hassan from her coma at the Ahnenerbe Institute. When John Smith asks her about the film she had with her, she suddenly disappears without a trace. Helen Smith continues her therapy with Dr. Ryan gone. Childan drives home to San Francisco with the proceeds of a piece of jewelry, while Ed McCarthy receives a visit from Sampson, who informs him that Frank Frink is still alive, and then lets Sampson lead him to Frink. While Sampson in Sabra with the Bar Mitzvah Frank Frinks solemnly welcomes him into the local community and celebrates the future with the church service attendees, John Smith in New York City is publicly sworn in by Himmler as Reich Marshal of North America, with Himmler marking the beginning of the future or the Announced year 0.

Kido and police officers execute Kempeitai employee Nakamura, apparently for illegally collaborating with the middleman Russell Sato, from whom Joe obtained the information regarding Tagomi. Under threat of killing Sato, Kido blackmailed Sato into providing Kido with a cover identity for his planned trip to the Neutral Zone. Helen Smith has an erotic dream about a therapy session with Dr. Ryan. In a real therapy session with him, he recommends that she revive her love life with her husband so that she feels better again. Dr. Mengele informs John Smith that a machine is being built at the Ahnenerbe Institute to enable travel between the universes. To prevent the Nazis from reaching the Second World, Juliana wants to travel to Lackawanna. Juliana and Wyatt first travel to Sabra, where Wyatt tries to get her a forged German passport. Juliana hopes to find help in Sabra for her plan to free the world from the Nazis, and in Sabra she runs into Frank and Ed. In the town near Sabra, Sampson tries to find out how dangerous the two bounty hunters are, who recently inquired about the whereabouts of the Jewish hunter who was killed in Sabra. Himmler informs John Smith that the order to liquidate Tagomi has been lifted. After that, John is so lost in thought that he neglects his wife. Childan returns to San Francisco and finds his former shop occupied by Japanese. He books a prostitute without being able to pay her in full, and is therefore beaten up by a yakuza man. Drunk and desperate, he breaks into his former shop and tries to steal items. That's why he arrives in police custody, where Kido asks him about Ed and Jack. Tagomi asks Kido to spare Juliana, and in return informs him of the existence of the secondary world.

Juliana wants to convince the Sabra residents that the Nazis can be defeated by showing the films that show the surrounding world. However, almost no one believes that. She suspects the Nazi machine, which is used to travel between the universes, in the tunnel in Lackawanna. She wants to travel there to destroy them. Wyatt buys Juliana's fake passport from a man he suspects of being a traitor and therefore shoots him, and accompanies Juliana in the direction of the German Empire. Tagomi turns to John Smith to arrange a meeting with him in the Neutral Zone. Smith chooses an old farmhouse in High Castle, near Boulder, for the meeting . In order to persuade the German Reich to end the oil embargo, Tagomi explained at the meeting the willingness of the Japanese to send 15 Nazi defectors back to the German Reich who were in the Pacific states. Tagomi Smith also lets it know that the Japanese are aware of the surrounding world and the machine. In the farmhouse, Smith discovers a photo showing the Abendsen couple, which he knows at least optically from one of the films. With his followers, he locates Caroline Abendsen, from whom he asks to find out the whereabouts of her husband, the man in the High Castle. While John is away from home, Helen prevents a nurse from drawing her daughter Jennifer's blood and escapes with her children towards a beach house. Meanwhile, Wyatt and Juliana have arrived in the German Reich in the restaurant of Wyatt's friend Vince Cippolini. Juliana already knows Chuck, one of Vince's employees, from a vision. Wyatt, Juliana and Chuck go to the Pocono Mountains and discover that the access to the tunnel is heavily guarded and secured. They want to penetrate it via a neighboring tunnel that has long been closed. Sampson kills the two bounty hunters who he sees as dangerous. Kido and Sato also monitor Jack and follow Ed and Frank, whose murals directed against the occupiers in Denver attract a lot of attention. Childan's telephone warning to Ed that Frank is in grave danger comes too late when Frank is arrested by Kido. Sato drives Kido and Frank to a remote desert location, where Kido beheads Frank for punishment.

With Caroline hostage, Smith forces Hawthorne Abendsen to be arrested. Smith then attended Himmler Mengele's demonstration of the machine in the Lackawanna gallery. Since one of the four test persons used for this succeeds in jumping into a secondary world, Himmler celebrates this as a great success and orders the extension of the tests up to a 100% success rate. Juliana, Wyatt and their helpers watch the test, but unintentionally draw the Nazis' attention to themselves. While Wyatt can escape, Juliana is arrested. Himmler orders the lifting of the oil embargo so that the Japanese do not interfere with further machine tests. Smith determines that Hawthorne Abendsen worked as Abe Hawks in the US Army image service in the 1940s. Helen tells her husband that she fled with the children because she couldn't take it anymore. Himmler solemnly proclaims the year 0 in New York City and has the Statue of Liberty destroyed. Then he has Nicole Dörmer taken to a re-education institution in Berlin because of her perversion. While violent riots by Nazis against those who think differently broke out in the streets of New York, the resistance activist Richie, hired by Wyatt, carried out a murder with a rifle on Himmler, who was seriously injured. Ed and Jack return to Childan and inform him of Frank's death. Together they hoist an anti-occupation banner on a church tower in San Francisco in Frank's honor. Hawthorne Abendsen explains to Smith that people can only travel to secondary worlds if they allow their other selves enough space there. When Smith notices vibrations in prison, he can no longer prevent Juliana from changing into a secondary world by means of her own mind. Wyatt ensures that the multiple box copies of the films kept by Richie are redistributed.
