The power to believe

The Power to Believe is the thirteenth and so far last studio album by the progressive rock formation King Crimson , which was released in 2003.

In the same year the album reached 65th place in the German album charts .

music

The title track The Power to Believe , which is divided into four sections and which, apart from a short vocal passage alienated by a vocoder , is consistently instrumental, dominates the album through its recurring presence. Already on the albums In The Wake Of Poseidon (1970), Larks 'Tongues in Aspic (1973) and Thrak (1994) converging with the pieces Peace (A Beginning, A Theme, An End) , Larks' Tongues in Aspic (Part One, Part Two) and Vrooom ( Vrooom , Vrooom Vrooom and Vrooom Vrooom: Coda ) made a breakdown of related musical passages on an album. The Part II: Power Circle section of the title track represents the core of the entire composition with its diametrically designed sound surfaces and sections dominated by percussion .

The combination of predominant guitar riffs with electronic drums , as exemplified by the pieces Facts of Life and Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With, is characteristic of King Crimson's style of the 1990s and 2000s . Through the fusion with polyrhythmically shifted, often uneven time signatures , atonal deviating harmonies and the use of arpeggiated musical motifs, the titles Level Five , EleKtriK and Dangerous Curves span the arc to the sometimes jazzy or minimalist style of the group from the 1970s and 1980s.

With the cynical track Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With in particular, band leader Fripp illustrates his inspiration from the band Tool by using similar chromatic riffs.
