The Song Remains the Same is a concert film and the accompanying soundtrack by the British rock band Led Zeppelin . The recordings were made from July 27 to 29, 1973 during the three final concerts of their US tour in New York's Madison Square Garden . The double album was released on September 21, 1976 on Swan Song Records .

The film also contains dream sequences that each musician in the band could choose for themselves. In The Song Remains the Same , Robert Plant is on the road to rescue a princess from the hands of a robber, while Jimmy Page climbs a mountain in Dazed and Confused to look into his own past and future.
