Houses of the Holy is the fifth album by the British rock band Led Zeppelin . It was recorded and produced in London , Stargroves , Headley Grange and New York City from January to August 1972 and released on March 28, 1973 on Atlantic Records .

The cover picture was taken on the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland . It was censored in some countries (e.g. USA ) so as not to show the naked children. The cover picture won a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package in 1974.
