The Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band . She became internationally known in 2005 through the song Dakota .

Band history

The band was founded in 1992 in Cwmaman (South Wales) under the name Tragic Love Company . The name was inspired by members' favorite bands The Tragically Hip , Mother Love Bone and Bad Company . Initially, the band appeared with cover versions .

The band later changed their name to "Stereophonics". This was the type designation of a gramophone of the grandmother of the drummer Stuart Cable. In August 1996, the Stereophonics were one of the first bands on Richard Branson's record label V2. This was followed by her first album, Word gets around, and her first successes. In 1998 they received the Brit Award for "Best New Group".

The following albums Performance and Cocktails , Just Enough Education to Perform , You Gotta Go There to Come Back , Language.Sex.Violence.Other? and Pull the Pin all hit # 1 on the UK charts. Her hit Maybe Tomorrow is the soundtrack of the film Wehnsüchtig and can be heard at the end of the film LA Crash . They also sang the theme song for the documentary series Long Way Round and Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman .

After the release of You Gotta Go There to Come Back in September 2003, the drummer and co-founder Stuart Cable left the band after internal differences and was initially replaced by Steve Gorman, the drummer of the now separated Black Crowes . In December 2004, the Argentine Javier Weyler took his place. Kelly Jones met him in 2003 while on tour through Argentina at a party in Buenos Aires. According to Language.Sex.Violence.Other? (LSVO) in 2005 the first live album Live from Dakota was released for the LSVO tour in 2006 . In 2007, Pull the Pin followed and stormed to number 1 in the British charts in the first week. On the following tour the band worked with guitarist Adam Zindani. In the 1990s he was known as the guitarist for the band Babylon Zoo ; In 2008 he continued to work with stereophonics as well as with his own band, Casino, there as a singer and guitarist. Also in 2008, A Decade in the Sun: The Best of Stereophonics was released. Including the best-of and live album, the ninth album was released in 2009 with the name Keep Calm and Carry On together with the single Innocent . After the death of first drummer Stuart Cable on June 7, 2010, fans started a campaign on Facebook to bring the first stereophonics hit Local Boy in the Photograph to the top of the UK charts, but the song only reached number 60 Javier Weyler left the band in July 2012 and was replaced by Jamie Morrison in September 2012. The eighth studio album Graffiti on the Train was released in 2013.
