Anna Schauberger / The Unused Word ( Popfest 2014)

Anna Schauberger (* 1985 in Austria ), also known by her pseudonyms The Unused Word and Yolo Ferrari , is an Austrian music producer , singer, composer and radio presenter . She is under contract with the Viennese label Duzz Down San and the singer of the Chiemgau band Allænd North . Its main acoustic elements are keyboard instruments and voice. An organic, dark electronic melancholy is typical of their sound . Schauberger's lyrics are usually in English. Due to different training-related influences, Schauberger's music includes elements from classical music , romantic , blues , hip-hop , trip-hop , jazz , soul , as well as pop and choral music .

Career

Anna Schauberger was born in Austria in 1985. In addition to recorder and guitar lessons, she received piano lessons from early childhood, mainly at the music school in Leoben , and passed her final exam in piano with distinction in 2003. Schauberger wrote her first compositions when she was nine years old. As a teenager, she played together as a pianist with the entire Styrian youth orchestra. She was part of the Big Band Leoben for a long time and toured Germany and Holland as a pianist with the Leoben Children's Choir. During a year abroad near Seattle , WA , Schauberger was the pianist for the Highline High School Jazz Band.

Since graduating from high school, she has mainly worked as a singer for befriended rap formations, and began producing electronic music in 2005. A little later, Schauberger took on compositions for the first time. The first commission was the composition of the catwalk music for the fashion show by the Austrian designer Ingrid Vien in the Vienna MuseumsQuartier . In the winter season 2005/2006 Schauberger composed and produced the complete musical program for the play " Les nègres " ( Jean Genet ) staged by Karl Welunschek at the studio stage of the Graz Opera .

After moving to the federal capital Vienna , Schauberger founded an a cappella trio with two colleagues in 2007 and later a private choir , which she led herself. In 2009 she was accepted into composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . There her piece “Heimatmelodien” (Heimatmelodien) for the narrator's voice, two vocal parts, violin , viola , cello , double bass and live electronics created both restlessness and cheerfulness. She broke off her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2012. Schauberger suffers from depression , which she deals with openly. Only a few days later she was officially put under contract by the Viennese label Duzz Down San. So she could be declared partly jokingly to Duzz Down San's "First Lady".

Schauberger works regularly with music colleagues and often devotes himself to sociocultural and political topics. Since 2017 she has also been active under the name Yolo Ferrari and in this role she writes texts in German, which she recites in a mixture of dialects. While she repeatedly deals with the subject of depression in her English texts , her German texts are increasingly devoted to feminist approaches.

Since 2014, Schauberger's bi-weekly radio show “Loss of Control - The Show with the Jogging Pants” has been released on Radio Salzkammergut .

In 2015 the musician received the SKE annual scholarship of € 12,000.

Since 2016 Anna Schauberger has been forming the sound and visual duo " Solid Heart Vagrant " with her colleague Eva Fischer ( sound: frame ) under her pseudonym The Unused Word .

Schauberger has been a participant in the Schmiede Hallein creative festival since 2009 , where she directed a self-initiated choir called Schmiede Gesangsverein in 2016 and 2017.
