Theo Fettin

Theo Fettin (born December 23, 1919 in Löcknitz ; † May 2, 1989 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German SED functionary, FDJ functionary and journalist .

Life

Fettin, son of an employee, worked as a commercial clerk in Pasewalk before the Second World War . 1938 was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . During the war he was a soldier in the Wehrmacht and was convicted in 1942 by a field war tribunal for " undermining military strength ". After being temporarily detained in the Esterwegen concentration camp , he was pressed into Penal Division 999 . From 1943 to 1947 Fettin was in the Algerian Djelfa in French captivity .

After his return he joined the FDJ and the SED in 1947. In 1947/48 he worked as secretary of the FDJ district leadership Ueckermünde , from 1948 to 1951 as the first state chairman of the FDJ in Mecklenburg . From 1949 to 1955 he was also a member of the Central Council of the FDJ. From 1950 to 1952 he was a member of the FDJ parliamentary group in the Mecklenburg state parliament . In 1951 he was department head in the preparatory committee for the III. World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin .

First he was editor or deputy editor-in-chief at the Landes-Zeitung in Schwerin from 1951 , then he worked as deputy editor-in-chief or from 1953 to 1958 as editor-in-chief of the Ostsee-Zeitung , the central organ of the SED district leadership in Rostock . From 1958 to 1961 Fettin studied at the party college at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow . He then worked from July 1961 to February 1963 as the secretary for agitation and propaganda of the SED district leadership in Rostock. From 1963 to 1972 Fettin worked as editor-in-chief of the SED district newspaper Neuer Tag in Frankfurt (Oder) , where he was a member of the SED district leadership. He was then head of the press office at the district council .
