Thilo Graf Rothkirch

Thilo Curt Friedrich Dorotheus Graf von Rothkirch, Freiherr von Trach (born October 23, 1948 in Brakel ; † June 9, 2014 in Berlin ) was a German film producer , screenwriter and director . Rothkirch was the founder and managing director of the Berliner Kinderfilm - film production company Rothkirch Cartoon-Film.

Life

Thilo Graf Rothkirch comes from the originally Silesian noble family Rothkirch . He was born as the son of Karl-Christoph Graf von Rothkirch, Baron von Trach and Malve Countess von Rothkirch, Baroness von Trach, born. Freiin von Medem born in Brakel in 1948. He studied graphic design at the University of Kassel and worked as a freelance graphic designer and draftsman from 1974. After a few years in London , where he learned his trade with animator Bob Godfrey , Rothkirch returned to Germany and initially worked as a commercial artist at the German trick studio Fischerkoesen in Bad Godesberg. There he initially did commissioned work for the German Armed Forces , the Federal Press Office and Kuwait . From 1975 to 1978 Rothkirch taught in Kassel and at the Technical College for Design in Dortmund.

In 1976 he founded the Rothkirch Cartoon-Film in Berlin-Kreuzberg . From 1980 he produced programs such as the lion keeper Tobias Totz or the television series Otto, the street dog , Lisa and Paul , Lena and Paul or Feodor , primarily for the WDR and other state broadcasters . The stories of the little polar bear were broadcast on the show with the mouse .

Rothkirch later also produced films such as Der kleine Eisbär , Laura's Stern or Kleiner Dodo .

Together with his brother Leonhard Graf Rothkirch-Trach, he founded the environmental protection organization Save Our Nature , of which he acted as board member.

Rothkirch died in Berlin in June 2014 after a long illness. He left two daughters from his first marriage to Maya Countess Rothkirch .
