Thomas Attwood

Thomas Attwood (baptized November 23, 1765 in London ; † March 28, 1838 there ) was an English composer and organist .

Life

He studied in Naples with Gaetano Latilla and until 1787 in Vienna with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . The studies that Attwood completed with Mozart have been preserved and edited as part of the New Mozart Edition . In 1795 he became organist at St Paul's Cathedral in London and in 1796 court composer . From 1821 he worked as an organist in various court offices. Attwood wrote 19 classical operas , organ works and chamber music .
