Thomas Dim

Thomas Dim (born December 30, 1964 in Ried im Innkreis ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). He has been Vice Mayor of Ried im Innkreis since 2015 . He was a member of the National Council from May 24, 2019 to October 22, 2019 . Since November 7, 2019, he has been a delegated member of the Austrian Federal Council by the Upper Austrian Parliament .

Life

Thomas Dim attended the local commercial academy after primary school and high school in Ried im Innkreis . 1985/86 he completed the military service . Since 1986 he has been working as a bookseller and accountant.

He has been working for the FPÖ in Ried im Innkreis since the 1990s , where he has also been the FPÖ city party chairman since 2015. In the municipal council and mayor elections in Upper Austria in 2015 , he ran as the successor to Vice Mayor Ernst Reiter as the top candidate for the FPÖ Ried and was elected Vice Mayor.

In 2017 he ran in the National Council election behind Hermann Brückl for the Innviertel regional constituency as well as in eighth place on the list in the Upper Austria regional constituency . In the National Council, Dim moved to XXVI in May 2019 . Legislative period for Roman Haider , who in turn took over the mandate of Wolfgang Klinger , who succeeded Elmar Podgorschek as regional councilor in the Stelzer regional government in the wake of the Ibiza affair .

In the 2019 National Council election, he ran in the Upper Austrian electoral district in seventh place on the list, but did not achieve a mandate and therefore left the National Council on October 22, 2019. On November 7, 2019, he succeeded Rosa Ecker as a member of the Austrian Federal Council sent by the Upper Austrian Landtag .
