Thomas Hofer (born January 28, 1996 ) is a former Austrian ski jumper .

Career

Hofer, who competes for SV Innsbruck-Bergisel , made his international debut on July 26th, 2008 at an FIS junior competition in Hinterzarten . Almost two years later he was second on the podium for the first time in the Eisenerz junior competition. He was also on the podium at the following team competition a day later. From September 2011 Hofer started in the Ski Jumping Alpine Cup . After rather mixed results in this series, he started in the FIS Cup from March 2012 . Already in the first competition on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he achieved a top 10 placement with seventh place. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Râşnov , he won bronze in both the individual and team competition from the HS100 and in the mixed team.

After further jumping in the FIS and Alpine Cups, Hofer made his debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in February 2014 . After he was disqualified in the first competition in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished the second on the following day as 24th within the points. He also collected a Continental Cup point in Kranj in July. In the winter of 2014/15 Hofer switched between the series several times, but never achieved a breakthrough.

In the winter of 2015/16 he was able to draw attention to himself again with good placements in the FIS and Alpencup and in January 2016 got another starting place in the Continental Cup. After a second place in the first competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he celebrated his first victory in this series the following day. In Willingen he also won the second competition. In the first, Hofer jumped past the podium in sixth place. A week later he got a starting place for the qualification for the ski jumping world cup in Zakopane for the first time . After he finished 18th, he finished 23rd in his World Cup debut on January 24, 2016, and thus also collected his first World Cup points.

Hofer announced the end of his career in mid-February 2020 after completing his last flights as a forerunner on the Kulm a few days earlier .

Hofer attended the ski school in Stams , which he graduated with the Matura .
