Thomas Kurz (born April 3, 1988 in Altötting ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Thomas short his football career began at the age of four years in the football department of the SV 1963 Unterneukirchen , played from 2003 to 2005 in the youth team of Bayern Munich and joined the season 2005/06 for A-youth of Wacker Burghausen . He made his debut in the first team on July 27, 2007 (1st matchday) in a 1-0 win in the away game against the second team of Karlsruher SC , when he came on for Thomas Neubert in the 58th minute . His first goal was the winning goal to make it 1-0 on October 27, 2007 (13th matchday) in the home game against SSV Jahn Regensburg . At the end of the 2007/08 season, the team qualified for the newly created 3rd division . He made his professional league debut, with his first professional goal, on July 26, 2008 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 win at home against the Stuttgarter Kickers . In the first year he was only used irregularly due to an injury, in the second year he played continuously from the 14th matchday after missing the start of the season due to rehab after a torn ankle ligament .

Kurz returned to Bayern Munich for the 2010/11 season . As a contract player of the second team, he made his debut on July 25, 2010 (1st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the away game against SV Babelsberg 03 with the substitution in the 55th minute for debutant Marcel Holzmann . In his second game on July 31, 2010 (2nd matchday), he also scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw in the home game against Wacker Burghausen. Due to personnel shortages, in addition to his traditional position in the storm center, he was also used in central defense , in the second half of the season he even earned a regular place in this unfamiliar position after the departure of Maximilian Haas .

After the relegation of the second team at FC Bayern Munich, he moved to third division SSV Jahn Regensburg in July 2011 . In the Upper Palatinate, he captured a regular place in the defensive midfield and contributed with six goals this season to reach third place in the table and thus the relegation games. He then played in the home game at 1-1 against Karlsruher SC , but because of his fifth yellow card he had to watch the second leg when the team secured promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with a 2-2 draw. In preparation for his first second division season, Kurz suffered a broken ankle and was out for months. When he tried to make a comeback in November 2012, the pain returned and he had to have another operation on his damaged ankle. He only made two season appearances for SSV Jahn Regensburg, which had to accept direct relegation to the third division. The new season also began without luck for Thomas Kurz: After the start of the third division season, he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in a game in the BVF state cup competition . He returned after a seven-month break on March 29, 2014 (32nd matchday) against RB Leipzig . After three seasons, he left the club and joined FC Ingolstadt II in the fourth-class Bavarian regional league for the 2016/17 season .
