Career

societies

Holzmann began his active career as a football player in January 1997 with his home club, SV Bürmoos , in the small Flachgau community of Bürmoos , near the border with Germany . There he went through almost all youth teams up to 2005, before moving to SV Austria Salzburg in January 2005 on a cooperation basis. When Salzburger Austria was taken over by Red Bull in 2005 and renamed FC Red Bull Salzburg , Holzmann moved to the junior division of the new club. At Red Bull Salzburg he played for several years as a cooperation player before he was accepted as a permanent part of the club in July 2007.

In his first youth season, the rather small wood man for his position scored one goal in 18 youth league appearances. In the following season 2006/07 he acted much more offensively and scored eleven goals in 23 championship appearances. After he was mainly used in the Toto- sponsored U-19 youth league until the end of his youth , he completed eleven games in the 2007/08 season in which he hit the opposing goal once. In addition to a decent number of missions for the second professional team of the club, Holzmann was used in ten U-19 league games for the 2008/09 season, with a goal balance of four goals.

Holzmann has been in the junior squad of FC Red Bull Salzburg since the 2008/09 season . He made his first professional appearance in the first round of the season for the team that plays in the second-rate first division. He was substituted on for Piero Minoretti in the 60th minute in the 2-0 away defeat against SKN St. Pölten and after just one minute of play he had the chance to score for the first time, which he only narrowly failed. Born in Flachgau, he scored his first professional goal already in his second professional league, when he came on for Raimund Friedl in the 63rd minute in a 2-1 home win over FC Admira Wacker Mödling on August 8, 2008 and exactly 30 minutes later scored the 2-1 winning goal after Manuel Pamić presented a left-footed shot.

In total, the young defender made 18 league appearances and one appearance in the 2008/09 ÖFB Cup this season , where he played on August 15, 2008 in a 7-0 victory over FC Hallein 04 in the 57th minute for the veteran Richard Kitzbichler was substituted on. With the team he made it to the 2nd round of the competition and was eliminated 1: 2 against SV Würmla .

In the 2009/10 season , Holzmann developed into a true regular in the Red Bull Juniors back team and so far (14 May 2010) has made 25 championship appearances and one goal. He also became a good template provider, with a total of four assists in the current season. Furthermore, he was used in two games of the ÖFB Cup 2009/10 and made it with the team again only to the second round, where they were eliminated from the competition on penalties against league rivals FC Gratkorn .

For the 2010/11 season Holzmann moved on loan to FC Bayern Munich , for whose second team he made his debut on July 25, 2010 (1st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the away game against SV Babelsberg 03 . In his eighth game, on November 6, 2010 (15th matchday), he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the home game against Rot-Weiß Erfurt . After half a season in Munich, Holzmann moved back to Austria, where he joined FC Lustenau .

In summer 2012 he moved to SKN St. Pölten , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2015/16 .

In July 2017 he moved to league competitor FC Admira Wacker Mödling , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2018. He left Admira after the 2017/18 season.

After half a year without a club, he moved to Romania to FC Botoșani in January 2019 , where he received a contract that ran until June 2020.

National team

After he had already gained experience with the Austrian U-19 team, but mostly only had to be available on call, U-20 team boss Hermann Stadler nominated him for the first time in 2009 for the U-20 team in Austria. When he was only available on call for the U-20 national team , he was added to the squad for a friendly international match against the Welsh U-21 national team in May 2010 by the coach of the Austrian U-21 national team , Andreas Herzog called. On May 18, 2010, he finally made his U-21 international debut when he was on the field from the start in the 1-0 win over the Welsh and played through the full match duration. In addition to Holzmann, seven other players made their U-21 debut with Heinz Lindner , Leonhard Kaufmann , Jürgen Prutsch , Markus Hammerer , Deni Alar , Dominik Doleschal and Lukas Kragl .
