Thomas RP Mielke
Thomas Rudolf Peter Mielke (born March 12, 1940 in Detmold ) is a German writer in the field of science fiction and historical novels .
Life
Mielke was a full-time copywriter, concept developer and creative director in international advertising agencies for three decades . He was responsible for slogans such as “Berlin is doing well” or “Join us” in the first anti-AIDS campaign and, from his years in the general management of Ferrero in Pino Torinese / Italy, is one of the co-inventors of the children's surprise ice cream .
1960s
As a counterbalance to his job as an advertising manager, he wrote crime novels, science fiction and historical novels on the side. His first SF novel Enterprise Twilight appeared in 1960 under the pseudonym Mike Parnell . A few dozen more followed under the pseudonyms Michael C. Chester , Bert Floorman , Henry Ghost , Roy Marcus , Marc McMan , Marcus T. Orban , John Taylor and others. a.
Military service
In the documentary "Controlled Democracy?" Mielke talks about his time in the German Armed Forces, which began with training as an air traffic controller in Hanover. In the documentary "Land under Control - The History of Surveillance in the FRG", Mielke describes how he was involved in the massive opening of private letters from the GDR in a Hanoverian barracks.
“The [letters] never arrived. They were gone. The letters never reached their recipients, ”says Mielke. After an application for a secondary activity as a writer, he was transferred to the Troop for Psychological Struggle (see Troop for Operative Communication ). According to Mielke's description, military-critical and communist groups were observed there. "Back then we were always interested in both sides. Primarily, of course, for the left," Mielke describes his work.
1970s
Together with Rolf W. Liersch , Mielke developed the concept of the alternative science fiction series Die Terranauten in the mid-1970s .
1980s
In 1986 he received the Literature Prize of the Science Fiction Club Deutschland eV (from 1998 German Science Fiction Prize ) for the Politvision The day on which the wall broke over an unexpected peaceful fall of the wall and the reunification. The star wrote to the author: "The Berlin Wall is not an issue - and it will not be in the next 25 years."
2000s
In 2010 his from the Goethe Institute award winner Dr. Nabil Haffar , Roman Gilgamesh translated into Arabic , King of Uruk in Syria and other Arab countries, and thus returned to his origins.
The initials of his 2nd and 3rd first name RP stand, according to the legend (and expressly without a space in between) for pure fantasy . After several years in Husum, Hamburg and Turin, the author has lived in Berlin for decades . He is married and has four grown children.
