Thomas Richter (born November 1, 1970 in Waiblingen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

At SGV Hochdorf, in Remseck am Neckar , Richter began playing football in a club. In 1980 he moved to VfB Stuttgart . In 1989 the trained offset printer was promoted to the amateur team of the VfB (Association League Baden-Württemberg). In 1990 he rose with his team in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and played there in 1990/91 30 games.

In 1991 the judge, who was mostly entrusted with defensive duties, signed a contract with the Stuttgarter Kickers and thus became a Bundesliga player. On the first day of the match he made his debut in Germany's highest soccer league and, under coach Rainer Zobel, he mostly held a regular place in the further course of the season (31 games with a goal on the 11th day against Hansa Rostock ). At the end of the season, however, they were relegated to the 2nd division. In the following second division season Richter played only nine times and moved to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg for SSV Reutlingen 05 , where he was again a regular player and was able to celebrate qualifying for the newly founded Regionalliga Süd in 1994. Here, too, he had regular assignments; the team reached relegation with a 14th place in the table. In 1993/94 he played under four coaches at Reutlingen ( Rainer Adrion , Manfred Vöhringer, Hermann Rudolf and Thomas Winter ), in 1994/95 there were three ( Hans Hein , interim coach Jürgen Schlaich and Wilfried Gröbner ). For the 1995/96 season he went to TSV Vestenbergsgreuth . Coach Paul Hesselbach's team also competed in the Regionalliga Süd. You reached 6th place and Richter was on the field in 33 of 34 games. As before at SSV Reutlingen, only a suspension prevented participation in all league games. In 1996 the football department of TSV Vestenbergsgreuth joined SpVgg Fürth. Richter was one of seven players from the Vestenbergsgreuther team who were in the 1996/97 regional league squad of the club renamed SpVgg Greuther Fürth . Armin Veh led the team to second place and thus to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . Richter, who played his part with 31 games and three goals, moved at the end of the season to the neighbor 1. FC Nürnberg , who had just become champions of the Regionalliga Süd and thus rose together with Fürth. He explained his motivation as follows: “The club had and still has better future prospects than the people of Fürth. In addition, it's simply the traditional club, the club. ”He was immediately placed at the“ Club ”, which did not change for the time being even after the coach change from Willi Entenmann to Felix Magath . With 59 points and third place in the table, FCN made it through from the Regionalliga to the Bundesliga. Shortly before the end of the 1997/98 season, Richter toyed with the idea of switching to TSV 1860 Munich . He was refused the move by Magath. He later announced that he would switch to Hamburger SV for the new season , but nothing came of that. His behavior drew criticism from Felix Magath. In November 1998 he finally went to 1860 Munich. At the Lions he was suspended by Werner Lorant after a mistake in the game against VfL Bochum (25th matchday) . This meant the career breakdown. It wasn't until December 1999 that a change came about: He signed with the northern regional league team 1. FC Magdeburg .

In December 2000 he returned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth . In a test match against SSV Jahn Regensburg , he suffered an injury, so that he ultimately did not play a second division game for the Fürth by the end of the season. His contract was not renewed and he joined FC Augsburg ( Bayernliga ). There he played only five times in 2001/02 and then went to North Rhine-Westphalia for Bonner SC . Here he scored three goals in 15 league games until the winter break and then returned to the Franconian region for personal reasons . He moved to TSV Crailsheim in the Württemberg Association League, where he played until the end of the season. This was followed by a move to SC 04 Schwabach in the Bayern League .

From 2005 he played for lower-class teams, namely at the clubs 1. FC Schnaittach (regional league Bayern Mitte), FC Ingolstadt (second team; regional league Upper Bavaria and regional league Bayern South), TSV Rohrbach (regional league 1 Upper Bavaria Danube / Isar and regional league Upper Bavaria North; Player-coach), Turkish SV Ingolstadt (district league 1 Upper Bavaria Danube / Isar and regional league Upper Bavaria North, player-coach) and from 2009 to 2011 at FC Pipinsried in the regional league Bavaria South.
