Thomas Rusche

Heinrich Thomas Rusche (born September 24, 1962 in Münster ) is a German textile entrepreneur, business ethicist and art collector.

Life

Thomas Rusche is the fourth generation of a family of textile dealers in the Münsterland region. After graduating from the Jesuit Mauritius grammar school in Büren , he studied social sciences and economics , philosophy and Catholic theology at the Université de Friborg and the Free University of Berlin from 1982 to 1990 . During this time, he gained practical and entrepreneurial experience at Peter Scott, Daks, Burberrys and Atkinson in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and at Bogner and Konen in Munich. In 1984 he became assistant to the management of his father's textile company, SØR Rusche GmbH. In 1988 he took over the management and in 1996, after the death of his father, became the sole managing partner of the family company in Oelde, which today has 60 branches all over Germany. In 1991, he started with Norbert Thom in Friborg with the economics work "Strategic Assortment Management in Retail" to the Dr. rer. pole. PhD . In 1992 he also completed his master's degree at the Faculty of Philosophy (MA phil.) At the Free University of Berlin. Since then, Rusche has been involved in various colleges and universities, such as the University Seminar for Business at Schloss Gracht (1989–1991), as a university lecturer at the Institute for Management at the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck (1993–1996) and as a lecturer at the University's Institute for Industrial Research Hanover (1997). In 2002 he was at the Free University Berlin with the philosophical work " aspects of a dialogue-oriented corporate ethics" to Dr. phil. PhD. In 2018 he completed his habilitation on the problems and research approaches of the ethics of robotics at the University of Siegen and teaches as a private lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty of the Siegen University.

Thomas Rusche is married to a doctor in Milan and has four children with her. He lives in Oelde and Berlin.

Act

Thomas Rusche is curator and sponsor of the Hans Jonas Center at the Free University of Berlin. In 1992 he founded the interdisciplinary research project Ethics and Economics in Dialog at Hans Jonas together with the philosopher Dietrich Böhler and the entrepreneur Thomas Bausch as well as other philosophers, entrepreneurs and economists -Center of the Free University of Berlin. From 1992 to 2002 he was also the head of the project and took over management again in 2010. Rusche teaches business ethics at the Free University of Berlin and business ethics at the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management .

Thomas Rusche is an avowed Catholic . He serves the Pontifical Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP) in the Vatican as a member of the board of directors and German coordinator. He is also a member of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem , the Kolping Society and the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU). Since 2005 he has been active as chairman of the aid organization Sister Petra eV for the benefit of the religious order of the servants of the poor of Petra Mönnigmann .

Under his name and the stage name Oskar Lenius, Thomas Rusche designs luxury collections for men’s clothing, wrote publications on clothing culture and initiated the blog Kleidungskultur-soer . His work " The Little SØR Breviary of Clothing Culture " has appeared in numerous editions and translations. In 2012 he published “ The Label Book Of Clothing Culture” as editor , published by Daab Verlag. He has also published books on social and business ethics topics .

Rusche is the German representative of the World Association of the International Fashion Industry (IMG). From 1987 to 2001 he was President and Vice-President of the IMG several times and host of the world conferences in Hamburg, Vienna, Düsseldorf and Berlin. He is also a curator and co-founder of the Westphalian Peace Prize in Münster. Member of the advisory board of JT Ronnefeldt KG , member of the administrative board of Ludwig Görtz GmbH in Hamburg, member of the sponsoring association Haus am Waldsee in Berlin and patron of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam .

Thomas Rusche organizes the Berlin Salon Talks of the Sophists with guests from politics, business and culture . He organizes the International SØR Master Concerts at Schloss Vornholz , as well as regular art tours through the SØR Rusche Collection in Oelde and Berlin.

SØR Rusche Collection Oelde / Berlin

Thomas Rusche promotes the dialogue between contemporary art and old masters. The SØR Rusche Collection Oelde / Berlin, whose roots go back to the 19th century, today comprises over 3000 works with a focus on Dutch painting of the 17th century and contemporary art of the 21st century. Initially accompanied by his father, Thomas Rusche has been collecting since childhood; first prints and drawings, then old masters and sculptures; since 2004 contemporary art in all media, with the focus of the collection on cabinet painting. The collection is continuously processed scientifically and exhibited in German and international museums.

In 2019, Rusche announced that it would liquidate its art collection; Thomas Rusche removed the company collection from company assets in 2016. The proceeds will be used to advance the digitization of the textile company SØR Rusche.
