Tian is a student and lives in Harbin . He competes for the Chinese Biathlon Association . He is trained by Xinan Liang. Initially, Tian started in international cross-country skiing races since the end of 2004. Early in his career he took part in the Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck , where 34th place was the best result in the sprint. Shortly after, he took in Bad Goisern at FIS races in part and attended, among others, a seventh place in a race over 15 kilometers, and he in the subsequent race of cross-country skiing World Cup over the same distance in Reit im Winkl was allowed to start, but was only 89th . Things went better in the sprint race, where he was 48th. After that, the Chinese competed in five races at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf , where 48th place in the 50-kilometer race was the best result. A year later, Tian came in three races at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin on. At the races in Pragelato Plan he was 19th in the team sprint, 53rd in the sprint and 64th over 15 kilometers. At the end of the season, however, he switched to biathlon due to a lack of success in cross-country skiing.
Biathlon denied Tian since 2004. In Ridnaun he made his debut towards the end of the 2005/06 season in the Biathlon European Cup and was 70th in a single. The Chinese entered the first race in the Biathlon World Cup during the 2006/07 season in a sprint race, which he finished in 90th place. With the relay he could reach the 12th place. Without having achieved any results worth mentioning by then, Tian was used at the 2007 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz . In individual he was 95th with the season 17. With Zhang Qing , Ren Long and Zhang Chengye , he won the gold medal at the 2007 Winter Asian Games in Changchun as the final runner. The following season the Chinese got better results. At the start of the season he was 32nd in a single from Kontiolahti, a placement close to the points and his best placement in the World Cup so far. During the biathlon world championships in 2008 in Östersund , Tian already competed in three races: he finished 85th in the sprint, 49th in the individual and 16th in the relay.
