Tichomir Iwajlo Iwanow ( Bulgarian Тихомир Ивайло Иванов , English transcription Tihomir Ivanov; born July 11, 1994 in Pleven ) is a Bulgarian high jumper .

Athletic career

Tichomir Ivanov gained his first international experience at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2011 in Trabzon , where he took seventh place with a skipped 2.00 m. In 2013 he finished twelfth at the Junior European Championships in Rieti with a height of 2.10 m and in 2014 he finished seventh at the European Championships in Zurich with a height of 2.26 m. The following year he retired at the European Indoor Championships in Prague with 2.24 m in qualification and at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , he finished seventh with 2.18 m. In 2016 he finished fifth at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 2.24 m and also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he reached tenth place with 2.29 m in the final .

In 2017 he finished fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with a height of 2.27 m and in August he reached the finals at the World Championships in London , but was unable to cross the entry height due to injury. The following year he classified himself in ninth place at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 2.20 m and missed the rest of the season due to injury. In 2019 he finished fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a skipped 2.22 m and then won the Summer Universiade in Naples with 2.30 m. Before that he won the silver medal at the European Games in Minsk with 2.26 m. He also took part in the World Championships in Doha , but failed there with 2.26 m in qualification .

From 2015 to 2017 and 2019 Ivanov was Bulgarian champion in the high jump outdoors and from 2014 to 2020 also in the hall.
