Timothy John "Tim" Caldwell (born February 4, 1954 in Brattleboro , Vermont ) is a retired American cross-country skier .

Caldwell participated in four Winter Olympics. He started for the first time in 1972 in Sapporo , Japan at the age of 17. In the individual race over 15 km he finished 54th, together with Mike Gallagher , Larry Martin and Mike Elliott in the 12th relay. 1976 he started in Innsbruck , Austria over 15 km and 30 km. He finished 37th and 27th in the 50 km race, but had to give up. He reached 6th place in the relay over 4x10 km with Doug Peterson , Bill Koch and Ronny Yeager . In Lake Placid , New York , USA , he completed the 15 km run at the 1980 Winter Olympics and reached the finish line in 25th place, eighth in a team with Bill Koch, Jim Galanes and Stan Dunklee . With Dan Simoneau instead of Jim Galanes, Caldwell achieved the same placement in 1984 in Sarajevo , today's Bosnia and Herzegovine. In the individual run over 15 km he managed 39th place. He also competed in three world championships and was several times national champion over different distances.

Caldwell is the son of cross-country skier and Nordic combiner John Homer Caldwell . He graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in history in 1977 . He then attended Georgetown Law School and graduated with a law degree. In Hanover , New Hampshire , he worked as an asset manager.
