Timothy van der Meulen (born March 2, 1990 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player who has been without a club since July 1, 2018.
Career
societies
Van der Meulen was born in Amsterdam in 1990 and started playing football at SV CTO'70 from the Amsterdam suburb of Duivendrecht at the age of seven . This was followed by a few years at the clubs SV Almere and FC Omniworld in the neighboring town of Almere , before he moved back to Amsterdam in 2006 and moved to the renowned youth department of the AFC Ajax . From 2008 he was part of the Jong Ajax team, Ajax Amsterdam's second team.
At the beginning of 2010, van der Meulen moved on loan to the Dutch second division club HFC Haarlem to gain match practice. On January 22, 2010 he made his debut against Excelsior Rotterdam in the Jupiler League . The club filed for bankruptcy shortly afterwards and was dissolved. After only one game, van der Meulen then returned to Amsterdam. In February 2011 he moved to the Scottish first division club Dundee United . There he completed six games in the Premier League , the first on February 19, 2011 against Heart of Midlothian , and another use in the play-offs. After his contract ended in the summer of 2011, he practiced with first division club Roda JC Kerkrade .
For the 2011/12 season he moved to Bayern Munich , for whose second team he was active under coach Andries Jonker in the Regionalliga Süd . He made his debut on August 8, 2011 (1st matchday) in a 2-2 draw in the away game against 1. FC Nürnberg II . He scored his first goal for Bayern on August 27, 2011 (4th matchday) in a 2-1 win in the away game against SV Waldhof Mannheim with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 77th minute.
After the end of the season he moved to the Dutch second division club De Graafschap , for whom he played 30 point games until January 2014. After that he was active for one season for the amateur club VV Sparta Nijkerk in 28 point games before he got a contract with the second division Almere City FC in November 2015 . After only one season and six months without a club, the fourth-class regional division FC 08 Homburg signed him and provided him with a contract that was valid until the end of the season. He made his debut on March 11, 2017 (28th matchday) in the 2-0 defeat in the away game against TSV Steinbach . At the end of the season he left the club. Van der Meulen returned to his Dutch homeland and joined the third division club FC Lisse, who were relegated to the fourth-class Derde Divisie Zaterdag at the end of the season.
National team
Van der Meulen made nine international appearances and scored one goal for the Netherlands U-17 national team .
