Tina Louise (* 11. February 1934 in New York City as Tina Blacker ) is an American actress .

Life

After finishing school, Tina Louise initially worked as a photo model and night club singer; she learned acting at Elia Kazan's Actory Studio . In 1957, she celebrated her first success as an actress at the side of Julie Newmar in the Broadway adaptation of the comic book Li'l Abner . Her first record, It's Time for Tina , was released in the same year .

She made her Hollywood debut in 1958 in Anthony Mann's Erskine Caldwell film adaptation of God's Little Acker , for which she received the Golden Globe Award for Best Young Actress . In the meantime she moved to Italy. There she played in 1960 in the sandal films Archimedes - the lion of Syracuse and Sappho, Venus of Lesbos and in Roberto Rossellini's Viva l'Italia! (1961).

1964–67 she played the role that has shaped her image to this day. In the CBS - sitcom Gilligan's Island she played the bitchy starlet Ginger Grant. In the 1970s and 1980s, Tina Louise appeared in various television and Hollywood productions. She earned praise especially for her performance in Bryan Forbes The Women of Stepford (1975). In addition, she had guest appearances in various television series; Among other things, she played 1978-79 in five episodes of Dallas and 1990 in an episode of A Terribly Nice Family . In the last episode of the 7th season of the sitcom Roseanne , she appeared again for the first time in 1995 with her former colleagues from Gilligan times. In the episode dedicated to Sherwood Schwartz , the inventor of Gilligan's Island , the two fictional worlds mix. While the actors of Roseanne find themselves on Gilligan's Island, the Gilligan actors take on the roles in the Roseanne Barr house. Tina Louise took on the role of Roseanne.

In 2005 she became a permanent role in the NBC - soap opera Passions .
