Tiril Udnes Weng (born September 29, 1996 ) is a Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Weng, who competes for the Nes ski, appeared internationally for the first time at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Predeal . There she won the bronze medal with the mixed relay. In addition, she took 23rd place over 5 km classic, fifth place over 7.5 km freestyle and fourth place in the sprint. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Fiemme Valley , she won the bronze medal with the relay and the following year at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Almaty the gold medal with the relay. She made her debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in Drammen in March 2015 and took 47th place in the classic style sprint. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Rasnov , she won the bronze medal in the 10 km freestyle and the silver medal with the relay. She also achieved ninth place in the sprint and fifth place in the classic 5 km. At the Norwegian Championships in 2015 and 2016, she finished third in the team sprint together with Lotta Udnes Weng . She also became Norwegian junior champion over 5 km and over 15 km in March 2016. She collected her first World Cup points in the 2016/17 season at the World Cup in Toblach . In the freestyle sprint on January 14, 2017, she finished 21st. One day later, she and Marthe Kristoffersen took sixth place in the freestyle team sprint. At the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow , she won the silver medal in the 10 km freestyle. She also came ninth in the sprint and fourth in the skiathlon . At the Norwegian Championships in Gålå in 2017 , she and Lotta Udnes Weng became champion in the team sprint and third in the 5 km freestyle. In the Scandinavian Cup she came six times under the top ten and reached second place in the overall standings. The following season she took 33rd place in the Ruka Triple and 12th place in the World Cup Finals in Falun . At the U23 World Championships in Goms in 2018 , she won the gold medal in the sprint. In addition, she was there ninth in the skiathlon and eighth over 10 km classic. She took three wins in the Scandinavian Cup. In addition, she ran in Trondheim to third place in the sprint and thus won the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup.

In the 2018/19 season, Weng finished 19th in the Lillehammer Triple and 16th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 . At the U23 World Championships in Lahti in 2019 , she won the bronze medal in the 10 km freestyle and the silver medal in the sprint. In February 2019 she achieved second place in Lahti together with Maiken Caspersen Falla in the team sprint, her first podium finish in the World Cup and came 15th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol . At the World Cup finals in Québec , she came in 18th place and finally reached 18th place in the overall World Cup and Sprint World Cup. After finishing seventh in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she finished tenth in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and eighth in the ski tour. At the end of the season she won her first World Cup victory with the relay in Lahti and finally achieved 13th place in the overall World Cup and 12th place in the Sprint World Cup.

Weng is the twin sister of Lotta Udnes Weng and the cousin of Heidi Weng . who are also cross-country skiers.
