The Tjoscha ( Russian Тёша ) is a 311 km long right tributary of the Oka in the European part of Russia .

description

The Tjosha rises a little south of Lukojanow in the south of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast . It flows through the city and then turns to the northwest. Shortly before Arsamas she picks up the Aksha from the left. After passing Arsamas, it turns mainly in western directions.

Below the confluence of the Lemet tributary , the Tjoscha begins to meander very strongly . In this area the river has numerous oxbow lakes . After taking up the shiloksha , she turns north at Kulebaki .

Shortly below the confluence of the Serjoscha , its largest tributary, the Tjoscha turns again to the west. Soon afterwards it flows northwest of Murom from the right into the Oka, which forms the border between the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Vladimir Oblast .

The river is mostly frozen from late November / early December to late March / early April.
