Tobias Schadewaldt (born September 20, 1984 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a German sailor in the 49er and laser classes .

Tobias Schadewaldt began sailing in the Optimist boat class as a child , switched to the laser radial class at the age of 13, and finally in 2001 to the laser class. In 2004 he passed his Abitur and became a member of the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr at the Olympic base in Kiel . In addition, until 2008 Schadewaldt studied business administration for top athletes at the University of Oldenburg , then Master of Business Administration at the University of Lüneburg .

Schadewaldt celebrated his first successes as a junior athlete. In 1999 and 2000 he was youth champion in the laser radial class, and in 2000 also 14th of the youth world championships in Çeşme . In 2001 he finished eighth at the ISAF World Youth Championship and won the silver medal at the Youth Olympics in Murcia . The following year he won the bronze medal at the ISAF World Youth Championship in Halifax . In 2003 Schadewaldt won the junior laser class title.

Schadewaldt has started with the men since 2002. More remarkable than the result was an accident with the boat. When it capsized, Schadewaldt got stuck under water and was saved by Baumann with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. In 2011 she won the Kiel Week and the Travemuende Week again and were once again first in the German rankings. They also achieved good results at the international championships: they were 13th at the World Championships in Helsinki and 12th at the European Championships in Perth . This qualified them for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Before the games, Schadewaldt / Baumann won the Kieler Woche again, finished third at the World Cup in Mallorca and in the overall World Cup and world rankings.
