Thomas Duane " Tiny " Lister junior (born June 24, 1958 in Compton , California - † December 10, 2020 in Marina del Rey , California) was an American actor and wrestler .

Life

Lister was 1.96 m tall and weighed around 135 kg, which gave the characters he embodied a strong presence. He was blind in his right eye from birth, which in most films was masked by contact lenses and trick technology.

He was best known for his role as Deebo in the Friday films with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker and as President Lindberg in Luc Besson's The Fifth Element .

In 1989, after a role in The Hammer , he got into the ring as a wrestler and feuded there with Hulk Hogan , without being allowed to defeat him. Then he turned back to his film career. In 1995 he surprisingly reappeared as a wrestler under the name Ze Gangsta : In the WCW , as a member of the Dungeon of Doom, he faced Hogan again in order to defeat him again. Then he turned his back on wrestling and devoted himself only to his acting career. From 1984 until his death, Lister starred in around 200 film and television productions.

In August 2012, Lister was charged with fraud ; he is said to have embezzled a total of around 3.8 million US dollars with five accomplices. He confessed in court and escaped prison sentence.

Lister initially survived a COVID-19 infection in 2020 , but suffered increased breathing problems in the days before his death at the age of 62.
