Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is an offshoot of the Tony Hawk's Skateboarding series.

The Game Boy Advance (GBA) and Nintendo DS (NDS) versions were released in the US on October 24, 2006. The Wii version was ready to go on sale and the port for the PlayStation 2 was released on June 7, 2007.

overview

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is supposed to form the basis for a new franchise with downhill racing as the core element.

Successfully completed tricks increase the speed of the skaters.

This results in more similarities to games like SSX from Electronic Arts than to predecessors from the Tony Hawk series.

development

Wii and PS2 version

This version of Downhill Jam was developed by Toys For Bob . Toys For Bob had previously developed the 2003 Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure skateboarding game . The Wii version can play up to 4 players together.

The special thing about Downhill Jam for Wii is that the skaters are steered exclusively by motion sensors, without having to press any buttons. The Wii remote control is held rotated by 90 ° (similar to the NES controller ) and the buttons, in combination with the control pad, are used to perform tricks.

The PS2 version has the classic control via DualShock 2 . It also includes new skaters.

Nintendo DS version

The Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions of Downhill Jam were developed by Vicarious Visions - the same team that did the previous parts of the series for Game Boy Advance and also, in the case of Tony Hawk's American Sk8land , Nintendo DS has adapted.

Up to four players can play with each other on the Nintendo DS via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection .
