Tony Mamodaly (born August 2, 1990 in Mannheim ) is a former German - Malagasy soccer player and current official who is currently active as Head of International Operations at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He stood u. a. under contract with Dynamo Dresden and played for the Malagasy national team .
Career
society
Mamodaly first played for TSG Weinheim in his youth , before moving to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and later to Karlsruher SC .
In October 2009, the then third division Dynamo Dresden signed him after a transfer Mamodalys to the Scottish first division FC Dundee United due to the commitment of the English attacker Danny Cadamarteri had broken up at short notice. Since he had changed outside of the summer transfer period, Mamodaly was only allowed to play for the Elbestädter from the second half of the 2009/10 season. Mamodaly made 16 league appearances in Dynamo's U-23 team. In 2012 he moved to the American association Florida Atlantic University.
National team
Mamodaly is a former senior national player from Madagascar . Before that, in 2007 he was part of the extended squad of the German U-17 team . In October 2008, Mamodaly was called up by the Malagasy Football Association for the first time in the squad of the senior national team for the World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast , but had to cancel his participation due to a pubic bone inflammation. A year later he was nominated for the U-20 COSAFA Senior Challenge 2009 in which he achieved third place with the U-20 selection. On September 5, 2010, Mamodaly finally made his A international debut in the 2-0 away defeat in the Africa Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Calabar . He was also used twice in March 2011 as part of the Olympic qualification against the Algerian selection .
Handball career
Until 2007 Mamodaly played handball - parallel to his football activities . He was active for various youth teams of the Rhein-Neckar-Löwen and was even appointed to the junior national team of the German Handball Federation , for which he played several international matches.
As a functionary
In February 2020, Mamodaly took up his position as head of internationalization at Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , where he once played in the academy.
