Tosny is a village and a former French community with 654 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the arrondissement of Les Andelys and the canton of Gaillon (until 2015: canton of Gaillon-Campagne ).

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Venables , Bernières-sur-Seine and Tosny were merged into a commune nouvelle called Les Trois Lacs . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Venables.

location

The place is on the left bank of the Seine in a bend in the river between Louviers and Les Andelys .

history

The medieval lords of Tosny emigrated to England after the Norman conquest , where they came to power and influence under the name Lord Toeny or Lord Tony .

During the Second World War (1939-1945) Tosny was bombed by the Allied Air Force in the summer of 1944 during Operation Overlord .
