Touch (Alternate title on TV: Touch - The guy with the magic hands ) is an American comedy film of Paul Schrader from the year 1997 . Paul Schrader wrote the script based on a novel by Elmore Leonard .

Charlie Lawson was a monk in his past. He has the gift of healing the sick with his touch. This arouses the interest of the preacher Bill Hill, who wants to use Lawson for his own purposes. Bill Hill persuades his assistant, Lynn Marie Faulkner, to meet Lawson so she can research miraculous healings.
Faulkner falls in love with Lawson, who wants to marry her. Lawson is shown photos proving Faulkner and Bill Hill know each other; However, Lawson continues to love the woman. A little later he realizes that he no longer has the gift of healing. Faulkner thinks it is her fault, but Lawson replies that it is his own fault for trying to test God .
