The Tour Ronde is a 3792  m high mountain in the Mont-Blanc group , which is about 3.5 kilometers east of Mont Blanc . The border between France and Italy runs over its summit . It lies at the eastern foot of Mont Maudit and forms the first elevation in the connecting ridge to the Dent du Géant . The summit is surrounded by two large glaciers, Glacier du Géant to the north and Glacier de la Brenva to the south .

From the summit you have an impressive panoramic view of the southern slopes of Mont Blanc with the Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey , of the southeast side of Mont Blanc du Tacul with the Grand Capucin rock obelisk and to the west of the Dent du Géant.

Summit routes

The ascent to the Tour Ronde can be shortened from both the French and the Italian side by using cable cars. Possible bases are the refuge Torino ( CAI ) to 3371  m , accessible by the cable car of Entrèves at Courmayeur in the Italian Valle d'Aosta , or refuge of Cosmiques to 3613  m , which by means of the cable car of Chamonix to the Aiguille du Midi can be achieved .

The normal route leads over the southeast ridge and requires combined climbing in the II degree . Another way to climb is the west couloir ( ZS , ice up to 50 degrees). An ice route with spots up to 55 degrees leads through the almost 400 meter high north face. It consists of two ice fields, which are connected by the so-called bottle neck. This also forms the key point of the north face route.
