The 46th Tour de Vendée 2017 was a French road bike race in the Vendée department with start and finish in La Roche-sur-Yon after 203.8 km . It took place on Sunday , October 1st, 2017 . It was also part of the UCI Europe Tour 2017 and classified there in category 1.1 .

The winner as soloist was the Frenchman Christophe Laporte from Cofidis, Solutions Crédits, ahead of his compatriot Justin Jules from WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect , who won the sprint of the chasing group that followed 20 seconds behind.

route

The start took place in La Roche-sur-Yon. After a hilly section towards the middle of the race, the route was relatively there. In the end, the circuit in La-Roche-sur-Yon was completed, on which three laps of 3.9 kilometers each were completed.

Race course

Shortly after the start, four drivers, including Patrick Jäger (Austria / Vorarlberg), drove away. Their maximum lead was around four minutes. Halfway through the race, around 30 drivers caught up with the group of four on the group. After that, the lead grew to two minutes. Then sat Fabricio Ferrari (Uruguay / Caja Rural) and Fabien Grellier (France / Direct energy) from from the top flight out. 55 kilometers from the finish line, a group led by Lilian Calmejane (France / Direct Energie) joined the two drivers . 20 kilometers before the finish line, all outliers were made by the next larger group. At this point in the race, there were around 40 drivers in the lead.

After the merger, when it started to rain, Nacer Bouhanni (France / Cofidis) was able to pull away . 8 kilometers before the finish, his team mate Christophe Laporte , Thomas Boudat (France / Direct Energie), Calmejane and Florian Vachon (France / Fortuneo) drove up to Bouhanni and formed the top of the race. 3 kilometers from the finish, Laporte mastered a curve best in wet conditions and was able to set itself apart from his companions. Laporte was no longer overtaken and won the race. Justin Jules (France / WB Veranclassic) came in second ahead of Fabian Lienhard (Switzerland / Vorarlberg), who won the sprint of the chasing group 20 seconds behind.
