Tourtellotte & Bumblebee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tourtellotte & Hummel was an American office for architecture , based in Boise , Idaho and Portland , Oregon .

The architectural office was founded in Boise in 1896 by John E. Tourtellotte . In 1901 he made Charles F. Hummel partner with John E. Tourtellotte & Company , which was not made public until February 1902. It was not until 1910 that Hummel came on par with Tourtellotte, when the company was changed to Tourtellotte & Hummel . The two architects moved to Portland in 1913, but kept the Boise office as a branch. In 1922 Tourtellotte and Hummel separated, but one of Hummel's sons, Frank K. Hummel , became Tourtelotte's new partner.

Tourtellotte retired in 1930. Hummel continued the office under the name Tourtellotte & Hummel in Portland until about 1934 and in Boise until 1942. Then the Second World War interrupted business. Hummel took it up again in 1946 as Hummel, Hummel & Jones . The architectural office currently operates as Hummel Architects .
