Caldwell is the capital of Canyon County in the US state of Idaho . The city is one of the fastest growing small towns in the USA, the population has increased by almost 80 percent in just 10 years (2000 to 2010).
geography
The city with its almost 55,000 inhabitants (2016) is located near the Boise River , in the middle of the (mainly through irrigation) fertile Treasure Valley, part of the Snake River Plain . The two US highways US 20 and US 30 cross in Caldwell, both of which lead from the Pacific coast in the west to the Atlantic coast in the east and are among the longest US highways.

Caldwell's main thriving is agriculture (one of the best-performing agricultural products in the United States), proximity to Boise , Idaho's capital , and tourism. The area with Lake Lowell and the adjoining mountains is ideal for hiking, climbing or rafting tours.
education
The College of Idaho, a private college with approximately 1,000 students, is centrally located in Caldwell. In the 2010 Princeton Review, the college was recognized for its high proportion of international students.
