Jerome County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Jerome .

The county is located in south-central Idaho, about 70 km from Nevada and Utah , and has an area of ​​1,559 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Lincoln County , Gooding County , Twin Falls County , Cassia County, and Minidoka County .

The landscape is determined by the plain de Snake River Plain , the southern border is formed by the Snake River . Centrally located in the county was the Minidoka War Relocation Center during the internment of Japanese Americans in World War II . Today it is designated as a memorial.

According to the 2000 census , Jerome County had 18,342 people in 6,298 households and 4,805 families. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 86.99 percent white, 0.23 percent African American, 0.69 percent Native American, 0.27 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 9.84 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.94 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 17.17 percent of the population.
