Gooding County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Gooding .

The county is located in south-central Idaho, about 50 miles from Nevada , and has an area of ​​1,901 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Elmore County , Twin Falls County , Jerome County , Lincoln County, and Camas County . It lies entirely within the plain of the Snake River Plain .

history

Gooding County was formed on January 28, 1913 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after Frank R. Gooding , a rancher, US Senator, and Governor of Idaho.

As of the 2000 census , Gooding County had 14,155 people in 5,046 households and 3,718 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer.
