Boise County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Idaho City .

The county is located in west central Idaho, about 50 km from Oregon and has an area of ​​4938 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Valley County , Custer County , Elmore County , Ada County, and Gem Counties .

Boise County was formed as the original county on February 4, 1864. It was named after the Boise River .

According to the 2000 census , Boise County had 6,670 people in 2,616 households and 1,899 families. The population density was 1 person / km².
