Power County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is American Falls .

geography

The county is located in southeast Idaho, about 45 km south of Utah and has an area of ​​3736 square kilometers, of which 96 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Bannock County , Oneida County , Bingham County , Blaine County, and Cassia Counties . Most of the county is in the Basin and Range , the northwest jutting out into the Snake River Plain .

history

Power County was formed on January 30, 1913 from parts of Bingham County, Blaine County and Oneida County. It was named after the water power station at American Falls.

According to the 2000 census , Power County had 7,538 people in 2,560 households and 1,968 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer.
