Minidoka County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Rupert .

geography

The county is located in south-central Idaho, about 70 km from Nevada and Utah , and has an area of ​​1976 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Blaine County , Cassia County , Jerome County, and Lincoln Counties . It lies entirely within the plain of the Snake River Plain . Parts of the Craters of the Moon National Monument are in the county .

history

Minidoka County was formed on January 28, 1913 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after the first settlement in this area.

According to the 2000 census , Minidoka County had 20,174 people in 6,973 households and 5,362 families. The population density was 10 people per square kilometer.
