Adams County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Council .

The county is located in northwest Idaho, borders Oregon to the west and has an area of ​​3548 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Idaho County , Valley County , Gem County, and Washington County .

history

Adams County was formed on March 3, 1911 from parts of Washington County. It was named after the US President John Adams .

The first people to settle here were some smaller Shoshone tribes . Then around 1862 several prospectors moved through this area on the way to the gold finds in Ada County . The first white settlers were the George and Elizabeth Moser family from Germany with their children, who settled in the area of ​​today's council and opened the first post office there on November 19, 1878. The area got a railway connection in 1882.
