Boundary County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Bonners Ferry .

The county is located in the far northwest of Idaho. It borders Washington to the west, Canada to the north, and Montana to the east ; within Idaho, it borders Bonner County to the south . Boundary County has an area of ​​3,311 square kilometers, of which 24 square kilometers are water.

history

Boundary County was formed on January 23, 1915 from parts of Bonner County and Kootenai County. It was named as a border county because it is on the border with Canada , Washington and Montana .

As of the 2000 census , Boundary County had 9,871 people in 3,707 households and 2,698 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.2 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 2.0 percent Native American, 0.6 percent Asian, 0.1 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.9 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.1 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.4 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
