Camas County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Fairfield .

The county is located just southwest of the geographic center of Idaho and covers an area of ​​2,795 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Blaine Counties , Lincoln Counties , Gooding Counties , and Elmore Counties . The south of the county juts out into the Snake River Plain .

history

Camas County was formed on February 6, 1917 from parts of Blaine County. It was named after the Big Camas Prairie .

One of the county's buildings is on the National Register of Historic Places , the John Skillern House .

As of the 2000 census , Camas County had 991 people in 396 households and 287 families. The population density was 1 person / km².
