Oneida County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Malad City .

The county is located in southwest Idaho, borders Utah to the south and has an area of 3,112 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Power County , Bannock County , Franklin County, and Cassia County .

Oneida County was formed as the original county on January 22, 1864. It was named after Oneida Lake in New York .

According to the 2000 census , Oneida County's population was 4125. 46 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 1,430 households and 1,092 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.5 percent white, 0.1 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian, 0.1 percent from the Pacific island area and 1.4 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.5 percent are descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.3 percent of the population.

Of the 1,430 households, 38.4 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 68.5 percent of them were married couples living together. 4.5 percent were single mothers and 23.6 percent were non-families. 22.5 percent were single households and 11.9 percent had people 65 years of age or older.
