Bonner County is a county in the US state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Sandpoint .

The county is located almost in the extreme northwest of Idaho, borders Washington to the west, Montana to the east , is about 25 km from Canada in the north and has an area of 4972 square kilometers, of which 471 square kilometers are water. In Idaho, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Boundary County , Shoshone County, and Kootenai County .
history
Bonner County was formed on February 21, 1907 from parts of Kootenai County. It was named after Edwin L. Bonner , a ferry operator.

According to the 2000 census , Bonner County had 36,835 people in 14,693 households and 10,270 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.58 percent white, 0.87 percent Native American, 0.27 percent Asian, 0.11 percent African American, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.42 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.70 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.64 percent of the population.
Of the 14,693 households, 30.6 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.6 percent of them were married couples living together. 7.5 percent were single mothers and 30.1 percent were non-families. 24.0 percent were single households and 8.2 percent had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.94.
25.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 6.7 percent between 18 and 24 years old, 25.4 percent between 25 and 44 years, 29.3 percent between 45 and 64 years. 13.1 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 98.2 men.
The median household income was 32,803 USD , and the median income for a family 37,930 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,504 versus $ 21,086 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,263. 11.9 percent of families and 15.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
