Teton County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Driggs .

The county is located in east Idaho, bordering Wyoming , is about 70 kilometers north of Montana and has an area of 1,167 square kilometers, of which one square kilometer is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Fremont County , Madison County, and Bonneville Counties . The county is predominantly characterized by the Teton Range , in the northwest it runs out into the plain of the Snake River Plain .

Teton County was formed on January 26, 1915 from parts of Bingham County, Fremont County and Madison County. It was named after the Teton Mountains .

According to the 2000 census , Teton County had 5,999 people. Of these, 31 lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 2,078 households and 1,464 families. The population density was 5 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.3 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian, 0.2 percent from the Pacific island area and 6.7 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.8 percent are descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.8 percent of the population.

Of the 2,078 households, 39.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.3 percent of them were married couples living together. 5.8 percent were single mothers and 29.5 percent were non-families. 21.3 percent were single households and 5.3 percent had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.43 people.

31.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.1 percent between 18 and 24 years, 33.8 percent between 25 and 44 years, 18.9 percent between 45 and 64 years. 7.5 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 112.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 114.5 men.

The median household income was 41,968 USD , and the median income for a family 45,848 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,309 versus $ 22,243 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,778. 9.7 percent of families and 12.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
