Bonneville County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Idaho Falls .
geography
The county is located in southeast Idaho, borders Wyoming to the east and has an area of 4923 square kilometers, of which 83 square kilometers are water. In Idaho, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Madison County , Teton County , Caribou County , Bingham County, and Jefferson County . The east of the county is part of the Basin and Range region, the west is part of the Snake River Plain .
history
Bonneville County was formed on February 7, 1911 from parts of Bingham County. It was named after Captain BLE Bonneville , an early conqueror and scout.

As of the 2000 census , Bonneville County had 82,522 people in 28,753 households and 21,449 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.79 percent white, 0.49 percent African American, 0.65 percent Native American, 0.82 percent Asian, 0.07 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 3.72 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.46 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 6.91 percent of the population.
Of the 28,753 households, 40.6 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.0 percent of these were married couples living together. 9.3 percent were single mothers and 25.4 percent were non-families. 21.4 percent were single households and 7.8 percent had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.33 people.
32.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.5 percent between 18 and 24 years old, 27.2 percent between 25 and 44 years, 21.0 percent between 45 and 64 years. 10.2 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 99.4 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 96.2 men.
The median household income was 41,805 USD , and the median income for a family 48,216 USD. Males had a median income of $ 38,745 versus $ 22,514 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,326. 7.4 percent of families and 10.1 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
