Lincoln County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Shoshone .

The county is located in south central Idaho and covers an area of 3,123 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Camas County , Blaine County , Minidoka County , Jerome County, and Gooding County . It lies entirely within the plain of the Snake River Plain .
history
Lincoln County was formed on March 18, 1895 from parts of Alturas County . It was named after the US President Abraham Lincoln .
42 of the county's structures and sites are on the National Register of Historic Places .

As of the 2000 census , Lincoln County had 4,044 people in 1,447 households and 1,050 families. The population density was 1 person / km². The racial the population was composed of 86.47 percent white, 0.47 percent African American, 1.21 percent Native American, 0.45 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 9.42 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.93 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.4 percent of the population.
Of the 1,447 households, 37.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.5 percent of them were married couples living together. 5.5 percent were single mothers and 27.4 percent were non-families. 22.9 percent were single households and 10.2 percent had people 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.27 people.
30.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.0 percent between 18 and 24 years, 25.5 percent between 25 and 44 years, 22.0 percent between 45 and 64 years. 13.1 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 106.5 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 105.8 men.
The median household income was 32,484 USD , and the median income for a family 36,792 USD. Males had a median income of $ 26,576 versus $ 20,032 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,257. 13.1 percent of the population and 10.8 percent of families lived below the poverty line.
