Lincoln County is a county in the state of Idaho in the United States . The county seat is Shoshone .

The county is located in south central Idaho and covers an area of ​​3,123 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Camas County , Blaine County , Minidoka County , Jerome County, and Gooding County . It lies entirely within the plain of the Snake River Plain .

history

Lincoln County was formed on March 18, 1895 from parts of Alturas County . It was named after the US President Abraham Lincoln .

42 of the county's structures and sites are on the National Register of Historic Places .

As of the 2000 census , Lincoln County had 4,044 people in 1,447 households and 1,050 families. The population density was 1 person / km². The racial the population was composed of 86.47 percent white, 0.47 percent African American, 1.21 percent Native American, 0.45 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 9.42 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.93 percent were descended from two or more races.
