The Traunbach - also popularly known as the Traun for short - is a river in the southwestern Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate .
geography
The Traunbach rises in the Black Forest high forest near Börfink near the Erbeskopf . It is 19.2 km long and flows into the Nahe at Neubrücke .
A right tributary is the Hengstbach , which has its source in Neuhütten- Muhl and is 3.728 km long.
The only level on the Traunbach is in the Abentheuer community .
Flora and fauna
The Traunbach initially flows through the high forest, later through extensively used valley meadows. Willows and alders are mainly found on the bank , which are hardly used economically today.
Gray herons and mallards are the most common water birds in the Bachtal, and the dipper and kingfisher are also living in the fast-flowing water.
Parts of the habitats on the river are located in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .
