The Triumph Bonneville T120 is an undisguised motorcycle from Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. in Hinckley, UK. The Bonneville T120 was presented on October 28, 2015 after four years of development. It will be finalized in Chonburi , Thailand . The sales designation T120 refers to the maximum achievable speed, which was around 120 miles per hour (193 km / h) at the start of sales . Triumph describes the "Bonnie" as a modern classic and with this motorcycle and the various variants (Bobber, Speedmaster and Thruxton) serves the growing market for so-called retro bikes, ie motorcycles with the look of the 60s but modern technology.
Conception
The basis for the T120 is the Bonneville T100 and the Bonneville from 1959. It takes up some design elements of the classic car and combines them with the technical possibilities of 2015. Since Triumph sees a market opportunity in recent years in the area of so-called "New Classics" the area around the T120 will be massively expanded. Examples are the extremely successful Bonneville Bobber (2017) and the Bonneville Speedmaster (2018). Triumph uses the 1200 in-line two-cylinder in different settings (e.g. HT = high torque for the Bobber or the Speedmaster) in order to achieve a spread in the product portfolio around the basic concept.
construction
drive
The T120 is powered by a 1200 cm³, liquid-cooled, transversely installed in-line twin cylinder. The crankshaft has a crank pin offset of 270 degrees. The mixture forms an electronic injection system disguised as an Amal carburetor. For the first time, a ride-by-wire system with an anti-hopping clutch and six-speed transmission is offered in the Classic segment .
Frame and chassis
The loop frame is made of tubular steel. The front wheel is decelerated by a double brake disc system with ABS .
